On Friday afternoon, the US Coast Guard was notified of a ferry allision with pier at the San Francisco Ferry Building, involving the ferry ‘San Francisco’, reportedly carrying a total of 53 passengers onboard at the time.There were reports of two minor injuries that did not require treatment beyond first aid and no reports of pollution.
A crew member aboard the ferry San Francisco notified USCG Sector San Francisco watchstanders of the allision around 2:40 p.m. The cause of the incident is under investigation.
The purpose of the Coast Guard’s marine investigations is to ensure we understand the cause of the allision and are able to recommend measures that can prevent future incidents. Our primary concern in any investigation is safety of passengers and the environment,
