As US Coast Guard announced one member of the buoy Hickory died on January 31 when a crane fell over in a buoy yard outside of Homer, Alaska. The victim was identified as Chief Warrant Officer Michael Kozloski, 35, a resident of Mahopac, New York.
Specifically, Kozloski was working in the tender’s storage yard, close to Homer’s Pioneer Dock.
After the accident, the local fire department and EMTs were called and transferred the victim to a local hospital.
Also, the victim’s relatives were also notified.
Rear Adm. Matthew T. Bell Jr., the commander of the Coast Guard’s 17th District reported that Chief Warrant Officer Kozloski faithfully served his country for over 17 years and the coast guard is forever grateful for his steadfast devotion to duty and sacrifices.
