The Republic of Marshall Islands released a Marine Notice, in which it establishes the requirements for carriage of publications on board RMI flagged vessels and provides a listing of approved publications providers.
IMO instruments deal with many operational aspects, navigational responsibilities, safety related training/drills on board, safe cargo handling, oil spill prevention, collision avoidance activities, and watchkeeping standards, for example:
- International Convention on the Safety of Life at Sea, 1974 (SOLAS)
- International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code
- International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships, 1973 (MARPOL)
- International Convention on Load Lines, 1966 (LL)
- Convention on the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea,
1972 (COLREG)
This Marine Notice reflects the inclusion of an additional approved publications provider and applies to all commercial vessels and yachts registered in the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI).
Furthermore, the RMI Maritime Administrator mandates such carriage to improve their implementation and improve the crew’s knowledge of them.
