Following the pandemic situation along with the vaccine distirbution, UK Maritime Minister Robert Courts announced the restart of domestic cruise lines from 17th May 2021.
To remind, the cruise industry was among the first COVID-19 stricken sectors, recording a great number of positive cases and halting operations.
After almost a year in which cruise liners have remained in moored in ports around the global due to the pandemic, Maritime Minister Robert Courts told the All Party Parliamentary Maritime and Ports Group that such trips could restart along with domestic holidays from 17th May.
“We strongly welcome the announcement that cruise will be included alongside the restart of other domestic tourism in the UK. The industry has been working with the Government over the last year on health protocols which put the safety of our passengers and crew first. Many of these protocols have already been tested successfully where cruise has been able to operate elsewhere in Europe”.
…Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) UK & Ireland stated.
As explained, under the current “roadmap” for easing lockdown restrictions, 17 May is the earliest date which could see foreign and domestic holidays resume.
