Read moreDetailsThe system has been designed for training of personnel operating cranes Transas supples a simulator to the training centre of Arktikmorneftegazrazvedka in Russia. The system has been designed for training of personnel operating cranes offshore on the Arctic shelf. The platform intended for the operation of the cranes is the Prirazlomnaya platform (the first Arctic-class ice-resistant oil platform in the world) to be used as an offshore platform prototype. The crane simulator models control systems, hydraulics and crane interrior arrangement (systems and components) and an instructor can introduce faults in hydraulics and systems which enables troubleshooting mode of training. The core of the simulator is its math model that provides utmost realism. Arctic harsh conditions impose certain restrictions on operations, for that reason special attention was paid to modelling environment and model interaction (temperature, wind, wave etc.) which makes training truly realistic; features that apply both to oil platform and a supply vessel.Training with the simulator can be brought one step forward by interconnection of a navigational simulator and offshore crane simulator. Thus, joint training of vessel and offshore oil personnel can be coordinated.Cargo handling at offshore platforms is associated with high complexity of operations and significant risks. Training of crane handling skills and ...

WWith Transas PAYS solution the vessel will have a license and access to install, view and pre-plan using official (S)ENC's where the necessary PAYS permissions have been obtained without additional cost. What is claimed to be unique with Transas PAYS solution is that recording and reporting of charts used is undertaken by using Transas Navi-Sailor 4000 ECDIS logbook.Vessels only pay for charts actually used for navigation monitoring. In other words, only charts that have been displayed on the screen together with ships position, or generated navigational alarms.Transas PAYS is a service for accessing chart licenses and corrections online together with the ECDIS. PAYS communicates via Transas Gateway firewall for licensing, corrections and sending chart reports. This works via a secure online internet connection from the vessel's ECDIS to the Transas chart server. It also allows remote support and maintenance on the Transas ECDIS, which ...

The system is intended to help save fuel and reduce environmental impact.Transas Wave is designed as a tool for monitoring and recording of ship's fuel consumption. It is intended as a stand-alone application that can be fitted to any type of ship, though the company says that a future enhancement will be available later in the year in the form of an ECO module which Integrates Wave with ECDIS for route optimisation. Transas says that this module will allow ships to comply with forthcoming MARPOL requirements concerning recording and monitoring of vessels' emissions.Wave is installed on the bridge, and connects to the ship's navigation sensors, fuel flow meter, engine data and emission sensors to collect information which can then be used to optimise the operation of a vessel. The company says that with proper control and management it is possible to improve engine efficiency, delivering fuel savings and reducing emission.Because the system offers clear readings of both instantaneous fuel consumption and consumption over the distance sailed, it can ...
