In line with its commitment on green financing, the World Bank Group announced in late September the creation of PROBLUE, a new multi-donor trust fund intended to support healthy and productive oceans by tackling marine pollution, managing fisheries and fostering sustainable growth of coastal economies.

At a meeting of the EU-funded SAFEMED IV project in Jordan, the IMO-administered pollution emergency response centre in the Mediterranean (REMPEC) has agreed to coordinate its 2019 technical assistance activities with EMSA, to achieve a more sustainable shipping in the region.

As part of its efforts to minimize the environmental impact of its products, Finnish technology group Wärtsilä said it has set a target to cut GHG emissions from its gas engines by a massive 15% between 2015 and 2020. The first step towards reducing all emissions is to switch from diesel to gas, says Sebastiaan Bleuanus.

US’s Governance & Accountability Institute says that of the 82% of the S&P 500 Index sustainability reports issued in 2016, 76% failed to disclose any metrics. The key question to be addressed therefore is: How does an organization measure its sustainability, not how manages it!
