In its monthly piracy report for November, ReCAAP ISC informed of a total of three incidents of piracy and armed robbery against ships in Asia. Of these, one was a piracy incident and two were armed robberies at ports/anchorages. The total number of incidents against ships in Asia during January-November 2018 has decreased by 15% compared to the same period in 2017.

In its weekly report for 27 November- 3 December, ReCAAP ISC informed of one incident of armed robbery against ship in Asia, involving the Panamanian-flagged bulk carrier 'Alpha Bulker' while at anchor in Cam Pha loading anchorage, Vietnam. While at anchor, about seven perpetrators (not armed) pretended to be stevedores and boarded the bulk carrier.

In its weekly report for 6-12 November 2018, ReCAAP ISC noted that there were no reports of piracy and armed robbery against ships in Asia. The report however included an attempted incident outside Asia, involving the Singaporean-flagged tanker 'Po Yang Hu', while underway in the Gulf of Aden, in the early morning hours of 2 November. 

Senior officers of maritime law enforcement and regulatory agencies from 16 ReCAAP Member States gathered in Seoul, South Korea, on 13 November, for a two-day meeting to discuss the evolving maritime security situation, and strengthen their collective efforts in the shared mission to combat piracy and sea robbery in Asia.

In its monthly piracy report, ReCAAP ISC informed that a total of six incidents of armed robbery against ships were reported in Asia in October 2018. The total number of incidents against ships in Asia during January-October 2018 has decreased by 5% compared to the same period in 2017, as the number of actual incidents reported during January-October 2018 was the lowest among a 10-year reporting period.

During 30 October-5 November, four incidents of armed robbery against ships in Asia were reported to ReCAAP ISC. Of the four incidents, three occurred at anchorage areas in Batangas Bay, Philippines. Included in the weekly report is a crew abduction that occurred on 29 October off Congo, West Africa.

In its weekly report for 23-29 October, ReCAAP ISC informed of two armed robberies against ships in Asia, one in Batangas, Philippines and another one in East Kalimantan, Indonesia. Meanwhile, special attention in the last hours has been given to information received from Philippine Coast Guard that about 10 Abu Sayyaf members are planning to conduct kidnapping activities in Sabah.

While at anchor in Jose terminal in the early morning hours of 14 October, four armed perpetrators in uniform with “national guard” markings boarded the Hong Kong-flagged bulk carrier 'Shi Zi Shan' from a boat through the ship's port gangway, ReCAAP ISC informed.

In its weekly report for 9-15 October, ReCAAP ISC informed of three incidents of armed robbery against ships in Asia.  Two of the reported incidents occurred within the wider area of Kandla Port, India, and one in Tarahan Jetty, Indonesia.

According to the latest ReCAAP ISC report on piracy in Asia, a total of 64 incidents of piracy and armed robbery against ships were reported in Asia during January-September 2018. Of these 64 incidents, 3 were incidents of piracy and 61 were incidents of armed robbery. This is an increase of 3%.
