nternational Transport Intermediaries Club defended a ship manager against negligence allegations, that a shipowner made after the loss of a lifeboat overboard. The lifeboat was drifting off the port of Naze, Japan, after the master reported it missing. Considering the cost of changing the ship's course to recover the lifeboat, compared to the cost of replacing it, it was decided to abandon it.

On Sunday, the cruise ship 'Carnival Glory' found and rescued a missing crewmember of the cruise ship 'Norwegian Getaway', 21 miles north of Cuba, after he went overboard on Saturday, 30 June. The crewman was reported in stable condition, according to the US Coast Guard.

The UK Coast Guard informed that it suspended the search and rescue operation for a missing person from a ferry, off the Aberdeenshire coast in the late hours of 27 June. HM Coastguard was contacted by the MV Hjaltland just after 11 pm Wednesday reporting the missing person.

US Coast Guard crews, along with state and local partners, are searching by air and sea for a man who reportedly fell overboard between Kent Narrows and Herring Bay, on June 27. During the trip, the man had gone below deck and when he had not reappeared about an hour later, the owner searched for his friend realizing he was not on board.

AMSA announced that it will begin the attempt to locate the 81 containers that fell from the Liberian-flagged container ship 'YM Efficiency', due to heavy weather about 30 kilometres southeast of Newcastle, off Australia, on June 1. A subsea search for the missing containers from the YM Efficiency will begin in the next few days.

On Wednesday, the US Coast Guard rescued a 25-year-old seafarer from the water, 5 miles east of Port Everglades, after he went missing from the Liberian-flagged container ship 'Vega Sagittarius', which was moored in the port at the time. Rescued was Lorejei Moscoso, a Philippines national.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau announced that it has launched an investigation on the loss of cargo containers overboard involving YM Efficiency, near Port Stephens, New South Wales, on 1 June. From the 2,252 containers onboard, 83 were lost overboard and an additional 30 containers were moved due to heavy weather.

A total of 83 containers went overboard from the Liberian-flagged container ship 'YM Efficiency', when the vessel encountered heavy weather while underway off the Australian coast, on 31 May. An additional total of 30 vans collapsed remaining on deck, according to master’s report.

The Piraeus Port Authority and Hellenic Coast Guard authorities are searching for a man, after he reportedly fell overboard from the RoRo passenger ship 'Blue Horizon', while the ship was docked in the port of Piraeus, in the evening hours of 23 May. 

The US Coast Guard informed that it suspended its search for a Carnival Paradise cruise ship passenger who reportedly went overboard about 85 miles west of Fort Myers, on Tuesday, 22 May. Man overboard issues continue to be alarming for the cruise industry, with 22 people on average falling off a cruise ship every year.
