The US Coast Guard announced that it is searching for a 50-year-old passenger reported missing from the cruise ship 'Carnival Paradise' on Tuesday, approximately 85 miles west of Fort Myers, Florida. Man overboard issues continue to be alarming for the cruise industry, with 22 people on average falling off a cruise ship every year.

USCG announced that its rescue crews are searching for a 'MSC Seaside' crewmember who fell overboard, approximately 8 nautical miles southeast of St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands. The missing man reportedly went overboard from the seventh deck of the Maltese-flagged cruise ship at approximately 1 a.m. Wednesday.

Ireland's Marine Casualty Investigation Board issued an investigation report on a crewman's fatal fall overboard from a fishing vessel, east of Kilmichael Point, back in November 2016. The report identified issues related to lack of safety culture and training, as well as to non compliance with safety regulations.

A woman fell overboard the P&O cruise ship "Pacific Dawn", on April 4, while the ship was sailing 300 kilometres west off New Caledonia. A search and rescue mission was immediately launched, but because of the bad weather, it has now been called off. The woman fell overboard the ship, while it was in the Coral Sea, heading to Brisbane on the return.

Richard Brisius, the President of the Volvo Ocean Race, informed that one of the race's sailors, John Fisher, from Team Sun Hung Kai/Scallywag, fell overboard and is now presumed to have been lost at sea. The Sun Hung Kai/Scallywag team performed an exhaustive search for several hours in extremely difficult weather conditions, but they were unable to recover their teammate.

A 23-year-old crew man has reportedly fallen overboard from the oil products tanker 'Challenge Prelude', 126 miles south of Sand Point, Alaska, on Sunday. A US Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew and an HC-130 Hercules aircrew are searching for the missing sailor.

UK MAIB issued an investigation report on the fatal fall of a fisherman, while boarding the fishing boat 'Constant Friend', at Kilkeel Harbour, in September 2017. The report says the risk was increased because it was dark, the surfaces were wet and the crewman’s consumption of alcohol had also probably adversely affected his perception of risk.

The 6350-TEU 'Hamburg Bay', operated by Eastern Pacific Chipping, collided with the 8000-TEU 'Tolten', operated by Anglo-Eastern Germany GMBH, while the latter was maneuvering on arrival at Pakistani Karachi port, causing the fall overboard off of at least 21 containers into the water, on Monday.

The missing 33-year-old crewman of the cargo ship 'Lara Venture' was last seen at about 2:10 a.m., Tuesday, when he reportedly fell overboard near Cape Charles, Virginia. The US Coast Guard has suspended its search, after covering about 112 square miles for 12 hours.

The captain of the Spanish oceanographic research vessel 'Hespérides', sailing in Antarctica, died after falling into the freezing water, Friday, the Ministry of Defense announced. The navy ship Captain, identified as Javier Montojo Salazar, disappeared on Friday night, while the ship was near the Juan Carlos 1 research base on Livingstone.
