On Sunday, the cruise ship ‘Carnival Glory’ found and rescued a missing crewmember of the cruise ship ‘Norwegian Getaway’, 21 miles north of Cuba, after he went overboard on Saturday, 30 June. The crewman was reported in stable condition, according to the US Coast Guard.
At approximately 3:20 p.m. Saturday, watchstanders at the US Coast Guard 7th District Command Center were notified by the cruise ship that a 33-year-old Filipino crewmember was seen going overboard, when the ship was about 28 miles northwest of Pinar del Rio, Cuba.
In response, the USCG launched assets including a Coast Guard Air Station Miami HC-144 Ocean Sentry airplane crews, a Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater HC-130 Hercules airplane crew and the Coast Guard Cutter Raymond Evans crew search more than 1,630 square miles.
The incident is currently under investigation.
