China continues efforts to clean Sanchi oil spill

The Chinese Ministry of Transports informed that the country is still attempting to clean up 1,900 tonnes of bunker fuel from the Iranian oil tanker, Sanchi, that sank after it collided with a freight ship. In the efforts for the oil clean up, five Chinese vessels, one Japanese ship and one South Korean are taking part, in an area that covers 226 sq nautical miles, while in the same time, efforts continue regarding what caused the accident.

USCG responds to oil spill in Astoria

USCG informed that a crane barge and other large equipment have arrived in Astoria, in order to begin the pier deconstruction, regarding an oil spill that was first reported on January 18, near a pier west of the Cannery Pier Hotel & Spa. The pier deconstruction works will removal the boiler oil tank, which is located underneath the collapsing dilapidated pier next to the hotel.
