Repsol, Spanish energy company, and Brittany Ferries extended their agreement that they signed in February on supplying LNG to the ferry operator’s Spanish operations. The agreement sees the energy company supplying LNG bunker fuel to Brittany Ferries' Salamanca and Santoña during the ships’ regular visits on routes linking Portsmouth, UK and northern Spain, beginning in 2022.

Russian natural gas producer Novatek announced that the Arc7 ice-class LNG tanker 'Vladimir Rusanov' completed the Northern Sea Route (NSR) passage via the Eastern direction, delivering a LNG cargo from the Yamal LNG project, at the port of Sabetta, to China's port of Tianjin.

Lloyd's Register is collaborating with COSCO Shipping LNG Investment, COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry, Jiangnan Shipyard, MARIC, SSSRI and CCS to develop 220k LNG carrier with Mark III containment system.

According to Gasnor, part of Royal Dutch Shell, Hurtigruten agreed on a long-term supply-deal for its ships. Therefore, Gasnor is to supply the company's vessels along the Norwegian coast with LNG until 2030. Hurtigruten is planned to begin upgrading six of its vessels from this winter to run on a combination of LNG, battery packs and liquid biogas, replacing the older engines which run on marine gas oil.

Damen Shipyard announced that Damen Shiprepair Brest completed repairs to the hull of LNG carrier Methane Princess, after its collision with a harbour tug in Equatorial Guinea. In order to achieve this in the minimum time it was done while the vessel was both afloat and with the cargo tanks holding either some liquefied gas and gas vapour.

The Panama Canal informed that on May 12 it welcomed Qatargas’ Al Safliya, the first Q-Flex and the largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker to ever transit the waterway. The tanker features 315 meters in length and 50 meters in beam, having an overall cargo capacity of 210,000 meters3 of LNG. The milestone transit also highlighted the Canal’s environmental benefits because of its ability to help vessels reduce the distance and duration of their trips.

NYK signed a contract with Edison SPA, a Milan-based energy company, to charter out a newly built liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier for up to 20 years, including optional extension periods. The vessel is to be delivered in 2022 from South Korea's, Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries Co. Ltd.
