Captain Kuba Szymanski, Secretary General of InterManager, refers to their General Principles of Conduct and Action which are in line with ESG goals, setting the steps to the industry’s journey towards improvement.

In the recently published InterManager's General Principles of Conduct and Action, the Association emphasizes on eradicating prejudice and discrimination in shipping on characteristics such as Race, Gender, Age, Religion/belief, Sexual orientation, Pregnancy and Disability - to ensure fair treatment and equal opportunities for all.

InterManager has gained support from industry stakeholders such as DNV, Lloyd’s Register, and Steamship Mutual for its General Principles of Conduct and Action.

On 9 January, BIMCO, INTERPORTPOLICE, INTERMANAGER, the World Shipping Council and Northeast Maritime Institute held a conference in Houston to discuss the rise in drug smuggling using ships and the abuse of seafarers. 

With eight deaths over the past seven days in enclosed spaces on ships, InterManager has called on the shipping industry to work together to improve safety in these challenging onboard areas.

Ship managers are urging the European Commission to follow the ‘polluter pays’ approach when finalizing legislation intended to reduce greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) from shipping in European waters.

InterManager will work with the IMO, Flag States, and other maritime partners to ensure that lessons are learned from the many fatalities which have occurred in enclosed spaces and also, new legislation is workable and effective.

The IMO Sub-Committee on Carriage of Cargoes and Containers held its 8th session, a hybrid one (CCC 8), at IMO HQ from Wednesday 14 through Friday 23 September 2022, and InterManager provides an overview of the meeting.

The IMO Sub-Committee on Implementation of IMO Instruments held its 8 the session (III 8) remotely from Monday 25 through Friday 29 July. Overall,  the Sub-Committee receives and analyses port State control data and keeps under review the procedures for port State control.
