India launches online grievance redressal mechanism for seafarers

As the Directorate General of Shipping, Mumbai informed, it has issued a circular on August 21 regarding its grievance redressal mechanism, as well as registration of complaints from Indian seafarers. In order to overcome procedural delays and expedite resolution of seafarers, grievances, the grievance redressal mechanism is being launched online for registering grievance and obtaining response thereon.

India wants to launch low cost ferry services

Indian shipping Minister Mansukh Mandaviya informed that the country aspires to begin the navigation in inland waterways and passenger transportation in the rivers in the North Eastern states of India. The company Water and Power Consultancy Services Limited (WAPCOS) is now preparing a model Detailed Project Report, in order to operate low-cost ferry services in the inland waterways in these states.
