UK P&I Club informs about the new IMSBC Code amendments, which were adopted in the form of a consolidated version of the whole IMSBC code and will enter into force on 1 January 2025.

According to Lloyd’s Register, new amendments to the International Maritime Solid Bulk Cargoes (IMSBC) Code will enter into force on 1 January 2025 with voluntary implementation from 1 January 2024.

In June 2023, IMO’s Maritime Safety Committee adopted Resolution MSC.539(107), setting out the latest (07-23) amendments to the International Maritime Solid Bulk Cargoes (IMSBC) Code, West of England highlights. 

According to West P&I Club, it is a requirement that all vessels carry the correct gas detection equipment onboard when carrying specific cargo; otherwise, the crew will be unable to evaluate the associated risks or hazards of the cargo carried onboard.

The 107th session of the IMO’s Maritime Safety Committee (MSC 107), 31 May to 9 June 2023, adopted new requirements in order to improve safety, including new mandatory requirements for lifting appliances and anchor handling winches, and new mandatory requirements for ventilation of totally enclosed lifeboats.

The International Maritime Organization (IMO)'s Maritime Safety Committee 107th session (MSC 107) will take place 31 May - 9 June 2023, to discuss matters related to maritime safety and maritime security which fall within the scope of IMO, covering both passenger and cargo ships.
