According to the Sri Lanka Navy, a vessel was in distress due to rough weather conditions. General Manager of the Marine Environment Protection Authority Dr. P.B. Turney Pradeep Kumarsa informed that the vessel was washed up ashore.

The non-essential personnel, who were evacuated from the Gulf of Mexico platforms ahead the Tropical Storm Barry, are now returning to their platforms as flights and normal crew-change activities are resuming, Shell informed. 

NOAA launched an infographic providing tips and information on safe boating, given that many are the accidents taking place at sea. Safety, despite the measures taken, also comes when one is informed about the weather, according to the National Weather System. Weather can cause many accidents, keeping in mind that many have been the casualties when weather conditions have resulted to injuries and fatalities.

Three people died and two were rescued after a catamaran capsized in heavy seas off Newcastle, the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) informed after completing search and rescue operations. A total of five people were onboard at the time, including a teenage girl.

According to NOAA's National Hurricane Centres, the first hurricane of the season is expected to pass over the US Gulf of Mexico, and it is possible to make landfall in Louisiana or Texas.  The hurricane is expected to pass through the centre of America's oil and gas industry.

The report highlighted poor training and maintenance, as well as inefficient EPIRB. 

In its latest Shipping and Safety Review, Allianz discussed how the changing weather patterns observed in the last years are disrupting supply chain, resulting in physical damage shipping incidents. The report cited recent examples, such as record low water levels on the Rhine and Elbe rivers and high water in Mississippi.

According to local sources, three crewmembers of a rescue boat died after the vessel ran aground off the Western French coast during a rescue mission. Storm Miguel was raging over the Vendée coastline with gusts of up to 129 km/h.
