As IEA informs in its Gas 2019 report, global demand for natural gas will continue its growth over the next five years, due to strong consumption in fast-growing Asian economies and driven by the continued development of the international gas trade. Namely, demand for natural gas increased 4.6% in 2018, which is its fastest annual pace since 2010.

GasLog and GasLog Partners decided to assume commercial control of their ships currently operating in the LNG carrier spot market through The Cool Pool. The Cool Pool is an LNG carrier pooling agreement between GasLog and Golar, focusing on spot fixtures of up to 12 months in duration.

As EIA informs, US production of hydrocarbon gas liquids reached 5 million barrels per day (b/d) in 2018, which is an increase of over 0.5 million b/d (13%) compared to 2017 levels. HGLs accounted for more than a quarter of total US petroleum products output in 2018.

ASBATANKVOY, one of the most widely used tanker charter parties in the world, will create the basis when BIMCO and the Association of Ship Brokers & Agents Inc. (ASBA) start to jointly develop a charter party especially for use in the gas tanker trade.

According to the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate, preliminary production figures for April 2019 show an average daily production of 1,729,000 barrels of oil, NGL and condensate, which is a decrease of 24,000 barrels per day in comparison to March. Gazprom secured the subsurface use licenses for the Rusanovsky and Nyarmeysky licensed blocks in 2013.

The American Petroleum Institute published its latest Monthly Statistical Report showing that US crude oil production sustained a record-tying 12.1 million barrels per day (mb/d) in April. Moreover, total petroleum demand was the highest for the month since 2007 at 20.2 million barrels per day.

According to the International Gas Union's Wholesale Gas Price Survey, dramatic changes have taken place in the natural gas wholesale price formation during a period of major developments in the global gas market. The share of spot LNG imports reached just over 30% of total LNG imports in 2018, amounting to about 126 BCM, which is an increase of 65 BCM since 2016, or 10.5%.

Dräger Marine & Offshore will provide equipment that detects dangerous gases to 23 platforms across the North Sea, as part of three new contracts, that are worth over $1.3 million (£1,000,000). The deals regard the provision of portable gas detection equipment to three operators over five years, including over 1,700 personal gas monitors to warn personnel of possible dangers.

Six petrochemical storage tanks caught fire at the International Terminal Co. storage farm at Houston's sprawling Deer Park refining complex, on March 17. The fire spread quickly, and managed to affect a total of seven filled. These tanks include gasoline, xylene, naphtha and lubricant base oil. All employees are accounted for, and no injuries have been reported.
