Crew Member Killed in Tugboat Fire Accident

A crew member has been reported killed in a deadly fire that raged through a tugboat near Prince Edward Point, Ontario. According to earlier news reports, the man, a chief engineer on the vessel, had sustained serious injuries. He has now succumbed to those injuries.At the time of the accident, there were six people on the vessel, including the victim. None of their names have been released. They sustained non life-threatening injuries.According to the US Coast Guard, the US-flagged vessel Patrice McAllister was sailing on Lake Ontario on its way from Toledo to New York. On Tuesday morning, a fire broke out in the engine room of the 105-foot vessel. Another towing vessel was able to reach the scene of the accident, and take the Patrice McAllister back to New York.There are no further details about the fire. The Coast Guard has begun an investigation into the accident. Since this transportation accident involved a fatality, the National Transportation Safety Board will also begin its own investigations.The fire broke out when the vessel was off Canadian waters, and therefore, the Transportation Safety Board of Canada is also likely to get involved in investigations. Iranian team saved South Korean tanker from sinking

Fire broke out in its engine room Iranian teams have rescued a South Korean oil tanker in danger of sinking because of a fire in its engine room.The tanker was on his way from Bangladesh to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) when fire in engine room started.The vessel sent out a call for help in waters to the southwest of Iran's Jask Port in the Sea of Oman.The Ports and Maritime Organization's Hormozgan Search and Rescue Center responded to the call with a rescue vessel. Container catches fire on board ship off Mangalore

No one was hurt Panic gripped the crew of a cargo ship after one of its containers loaded with chemicals caught fire about 50 nautical miles off Mangalore on Saturday but no one was hurt in the incident, Coast Guard officials said.Liberia flagged 'MV Cap Norte' was on way to Mundra with 24 crew members on board when the fire broke out, following which the vessel's captain sent a distress message to Maritime Rescue Coordination Center in Mumbai seeking help, they said.Immediately after receiving the message, Coast Guard Fast Patrol vessel ICGS Savitribai Phule sailed off to render assistance and reached the area at around 1 pm, the Coast Guard said in a release issued here.The merchant vessel was carrying about 15 ton polyamide sulphide.The ship crew extinguished the fire themselves and the situation was under control, the release said."All persons on board are safe.
