U.S. Navy Rescues 10 From Iranian Ship on Fire

This is the second rescue-at-sea the US Navy has conducted in recent months A U.S. Navy destroyer has rescued 10 sailors from an Iranian-flagged vessel that was on fire in the Gulf of Oman.The guided missile destroyer USS James E. Williams came upon the Iranian-flagged dhow as it was on fire Wednesday night. The 10 on board were picked up out of the water by the crew of the destroyer.A Defense official says eight of the 10 are Iranian; the other two are Pakistanis.According to a Navy press release the crew members "are being well cared for, receiving medical treatment and awaiting transport to aircraft carrier USS Enterprise."Commander Jason Salata, a spokesman for the Navy's Fifth Fleet, said they will be transported Thursday morning to the Enterprise and will be repatriated from there. Cruise ship caught fire off Aegean coast

All passengers and crew were safely evacuated Small cruise ship transporting 100 passengers caught fire off Turkey's Aegean coast Friday.The Didim Mavisi, which conducts tours of the Aegean islands, departed from the Aegean district of Ayvalık on Friday, but a fire soon broke out in the boat's galley section as it cruised near the coast of Sarımsaklı. The fire quickly spread as the captain directed the vessel to a nearby cove.All passengers and crew were safely evacuated as other boats came to the distressed vessel's aid.
