Two dead after explosion on tanker

An explosion took place onboard the Aframax tanker LR2 Poseidon, on 28 January, Tuzla Ship Repair Yard, Turkey. Because of the explosion, two workers died, while 10 are in the hospital injured, with one of them being in critical condition. After the explosion a fire also broke out. Fire fighters went on scene and were able to put out the fire during the day.

Seafarers should be very cautious when handling hot pipelines, steams and fires to avoid burns and scalds. Burns and scalds are damage to the skin caused by wet heat, electricity, or chemicals; both are treated in the same way while the amount of pain that the patient feels isn't always related to how serious the burn is. Even a very serious burn may be relatively painless.
