ClassNK has announced that it released amendments to its Rules and Guidance for the Survey and Construction of Steel Ships on 25 December 2015, including structural strength requirements of container carriers.

ClassNK announced that it established Ship Data Center Co., Ltd. in Tokyo, Japan on 7 December 2015, a wholly owned subsidiary that aims to support the utilization of data gathered from ship operations. The Data Center will be headed by ClassNK Executive Vice President Yasushi Nakamura.

ClassNK has released the Third Edition of its Guidelines for Floating Offshore Facilities for LNG/LPG Production, Storage Offloading and Regasification. The first edition of the guidelines laid out specific technical requirements for gas FPSOs and was released in 2011. In February 2015, the guidelines were revised and the second edition was released to clarify the application to FSRUs.

ClassNK has released draft amendments to its rules and guidance for container carriers approved by the ClassNK Technical Committee in Tokyo on 19 November.
