As a part of the EU project EfficienSea2, the surveillance system manufacturer Vissim has become the first operator to integrate voyage data from the ENSI-system in their own vessel traffic monitoring system, which will allow VTS centres and navigators to drastically reduce their reporting burdens.

The German fishing vessel 'Condor', foundered on 6 February 2017, 3.5nm east of the Baltic Sea island Fehmarn. The two fishermen onboard the vessel drowned in the Baltic Sea. The vessel was found on the sandy bottom of the Baltic Sea, largely damaged, and was salvaged in order to help in the maritime safety investigation.

The total number of passengers transported by the Tallink Group in 2017 increased to 9,755,720, compared to 9,457,522 in 2016 and the total number of cargo units transported in 2017 has increased to 364, 296 units, compared to 328,190 in 2016.

As the first ferry company in the Port of Trelleborg, Stena Line will now be connecting up its two vessels, M/S Skåne and M/S Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, to the electricity grid during calls into port, in a bid to enhance sustainability and reduce emissions.
