American Club: Clarifications on Shanghai ECA map

The Shanghai Maritime Safety Administration has issued a sketch map of the waters comprising Shanghai Port which outlines the ECA for navigating ships. As of 1st October 2018, all vessels are required to use fuel with a sulfur content of up to 0.5% m/m, while navigating and berthing in Shanghai Port.

American Club launches new MARPOL tool

The American P&I Club announced the release of the final module of its “Clean Seas: Complying with MARPOL 73/78” web-based e-learning tool. The module covers Annex VI of MARPOL 73/78, Prevention of Air Pollution from Ships.

MSA reports ECA violations in China

The American P&I Club issued an alert, informing that the Maritime Safety Administrations (MSAs) in Hebei Province and Tianjin Municipality have both reportedly penalized a foreign ship for use of fuel with sulfur content over 0.5%. It is not clear at this stage how the vessel was penalized.
