Regarding recharging breathing apparatus cylinders and spare cylinders for fire fighter
ClassNK has issued Technical Information to notify about special requirements for relevant equipment of fire-fighter’s outfit regarding Antigua and Barbuda flagged vessels.
Means of recharging breathing apparatus cylinders and spare cylinders for fire fighter
If the requirement is to be met by carrying additional spare cylinders to replace those used duringdrills, there should be a minimum of two provided to allow for drills to be conducted with a twoman fire fighting team.
Fire-fighter’s communication
(1) The two-way portable radiotelephone apparatus referred to in SOLAS Chapter II-2Regulation 10.4 are additional to any required by SOLAS Chapter III Regulation 6.2.1 and6.4.1.
(2) The two-way portable radiotelephone apparatus provided to meet this requirement should bestowed with the fire-fighter’s outfits and ready for use with them at any time.
(3) A check on the state of charge of the batteries in the units should be included in the routineinspections of fire fighting equipment.
