Ocean Bunkering Services (OBS) Pte Ltd announced it will add five bunker barges to its fleet by early January, in line with its plans to expand in Singaporean marine refueling market, currently the largest in the world.
Therefore, OBS, the bunkering arm of Singapore oil trader and shipper Hin Leong Group, will reach the number of vessels to 25, Reuters reported.
As explained, when Singapore became the world’s first port to adopt mass flow meters in early 2017, several bunker fuel suppliers lose their licenses. This step from OBS aims “to consolidate position and expand reach.”
In particular, one of the new barges will be dispatched to supply distillate fuels, and the remaining four are expected to supply residual fuels, according to a company spokeswoman as quoted by Reuters.
Singapore at the moment has 55 licensed suppliers and 53 bunker craft operators.
