Faxagardur port area in Reykjavik has hired PSW Power & Automation, a Norwegian power systems provider, in order to deliver shore power solution for cruise ships that visit Iceland.
As informed, the system includes a complete converter system, cable management system and on-site installation. The shore power system enables fossil-free berthing at two locations.
Faxagardur will provide smaller cruise ships, typically explorer cruise ships, and naval vessels with shore power. The system is to be delivered by the end of Q4-2022.

This is the second shore power solution PSW Power & Automation delivers to Iceland. As described, the contract will increase the company`s position in the European market, and underpin PSW Power & Automation`s overall ambition of accelerating the maritime green energy transition by being a driver in electrification and emission reduction solutions.
