According to Reuters, on March 4th, a fire erupted on a vessel southeast of Aden, Yemen, triggered by nearby explosions.
The incident was successfully brought under control, as reported by the U.K. Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) agency and British security company Ambrey.
The Master reports the fire onboard has been extinguished and that the crew are all safe. Coalition Forces are responding.
..UKMTO said in a recent update on the incident.
Furthermore, it was mentioned that the vessel had left the affected area and was en route to its upcoming destination port.
The U.S. has established an international coalition with the goal of protecting commercial traffic in the Red Sea region from assaults by Houthi militants, who are supported by Iran. The Houthis claim responsibility for these attacks, citing solidarity with Palestinians during the Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza.
According to Ambrey reports, a container ship, flagged under Liberia and linked to Israel, was hit. The distress signal indicated it was traveling from Singapore to Djibouti, but neither agency disclosed the vessel’s name.
The vessel was listed as operated by the Israeli company ZIM Integrated Shipping Services. This may have been an out-of-date affiliation, as the vessel was not listed on other public sources.
..Ambrey added.
