The ESG journey involves multiple considerations, and this survey aims to identify the key priorities of the maritime industry. ESG stands for Environmental, Social, and Governance, and in the shipping sector, it translates into sustainability practices within business models.
To this end, SAFETY4SEA is once again launching this year’s ESG Climate Survey, a comprehensive industry-wide survey running through Q1 and Q2 of 2025. Its objective is to examine the industry’s perception of ESG challenges and provide insights into how shipping companies are responding to emerging ESG trends and regulatory requirements while shaping their agendas.
While environmental sustainability remains a key focus within the industry’s ESG agenda, attention has expanded beyond maritime decarbonization and climate change. Additionally, social and governance-related initiatives are increasingly recognized as essential to long-term value creation in the shipping industry. Notably, the 2024 SAFETY4SEA ESG Climate Survey—completed by more than 1,500 maritime stakeholders—revealed that Social and Governance topics are now high on the shipping industry’s agenda.
The ESG journey is both challenging and transformative for the maritime sector. A holistic approach is required—one that balances diverse ESG aspects to ensure sustainable practices for both individual organizations and the industry as a whole.
With this in mind, we would greatly appreciate your participation in our ESG Climate Survey, which takes less than four minutes to complete.
