The Komi Region in Russia and the North-West Strategic Partnership agreed to jointly advance tourism and big industrial projects in the Arctic, in order to improve the region’s potential.
According to the agreement, the two parties will synchronize their plans, with plans of neighboring regions and major companies, working in the North-Western District, TASS news agency cited the region’s head Sergei Gaplikov as saying.

This collaboration aims to advance investment projects and benefit the region’s social and economic development. In order to achieve that, plans include development of the Arctic zone and of the region’s tourism potential.
Moreover, the agreement wants to develop Arctic’s historical, cultural and tourism potentials, under the project ‘Silver Necklace of Russia’, and also develop socially important events.
The North-West Strategic Partnership is effective since 2012 and supports activities in social and economic policies, investment and social programs and projects.
