"Our focus continues to be on the safety and well-being of our guests and crew. We are seeking to identify the best resources to partner with to clean and disinfect the ship from bow to stern. To accomplish this critically important undertaking, Princess will engage a vendor that has experience in significant cleaning and disinfection projects" said Jan Swartz, Princess Cruises president, to CNN.
As the cruise company announced, the cleaning of the 115.875-ton passenger vessel will be a difficult process.
In fact the sanitizing operation includes among others, the removal and proper disposal of all towels (bath, face, hand), bed linens, mattress pads, pillows, duvets, shower curtains, mattresses and the disinfection of curtains and other soft furnishings.
At the same time, the extensive ventilation system will need to be cleaned, as well as the entertainment areas such the spa, fitness center, retail shops, and restaurants.
Concluding, cleaning companies who wish to submit their proposal should be prepared to meet the detailed health standards of the Japanese Ministry of Health, the U.S. Center for Disease Control and the World Health Organization.
