Ust-Luga Commercial Seaport signed a cooperation agreement with German Port of Kiel, aiming to increase the turnover of both and reduce the time of delivery. The document targeted at development of trade and economic relations between Russia and Germany.
According to the agreement, the two ports cooperation will be in a new logistic service offered by Cis-Cargo GmbH and PUL Trans JSC. It involves interaction on the principle of “one window” with a guaranteed the term of delivery. As part of a new logistics service agreement provided through freight rates, with the price of each of the service operators will be the same.
“We project turnover of the terminal South-2, where in the last five years are handling the ships from port of Kiel, should reach 6.5 million tons until 2020. At the same time, the results for 2016 is expected to reach 4.1 million tons. The total investments in the development of the domestic railway infrastructure of the terminal South-2 amounted to 500 million rubles”, said the Director General of Commercial Sea Port of Ust-Luga, Mikhail Talanenko.
The newly newly signed document marks the five years of Kiel – Ust-Luga ferry service.
The agreement aimed at the development of intermodal transport, which is the only possibility to increase the turnover in the current situation.
The port is located in Kingiseppsky District of Leningrad Oblast, Russia, situated on the Luga River near its entry into the Luga Bay of the Gulf of Finland, about 110 km west of St Petersburg.
