The Port of Tallinn and AS Alexela Invest signed an MoU to consider best solutions for developing and implementing an LNG terminal and servicing LNG tankers and bunkers. The MoU will also consider establishing port facilities for loading and unloading LNG on the Pakri peninsula by the Lahepere bay in Paldiski.
The two parties will negotiate the conditions for joint activities, aiming to sing a contract by the end of 2020.

According to the agreement, the responsibility of the Port of Tallinn in the Paldiski LNG terminal project would be the development and maintenance of necessary port facilities.
For its part, Alexela will be responsible for establishing and operating the terminal.
In 2017 the Port of Tallinn serviced 10.6 million passengers and 19.2 million tons of cargo. In addition to passenger and freight services, the Port provides ferry services between the Estonian mainland and the largest islands.
