Representatives of the Port of Rotterdam Authority and the port Authority of Guangzhou, met in the Chinese port to establish their partnership agreement through a signing ceremony, on Tuesday, May 7.
The joint collaboration sees both organisations sharing experiences and knowledge in the area of port management.
This collab is in line with Rotterdam’s aims, sharing its knowledge and expertise with neighbour and global ports and also establish itself as a leader in the growth of new markets.
As port of Rotterdam, port of Guangzhou ranks a versatile port that has grown due to container handling, among other activities.

Guangzhou is one of the world’s largest container ports, achieving a throughput of some 22 million TEU in 2018. On the contrary Rotterdam’s container throughput in the same year was 14.5 million TEU.
Up to now, port of Rotterdam has built a strong reputation thanks to is port infrastructure, robust port and industrial complex and the diversity of cargo flows and industries found in the port area.
The Port of Rotterdam Authority has previously entered into partnership agreements with various other port cities, including Shanghai, Shenzhen, Singapore, Tokyo and the Thai port authorities.
