The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) caught a ship and three boats stealing diesel in the waters of the Navotas Fish Port on January 28, 2023.
While on patrol, the PCG team observed five crew members of M/V MIROLA 1 transferring diesel to three boats with 13 crew members aboard – PALAWAN PIRATES 2022, PALAWAN PIRATES 2023, and PALAWAN PATRICK.
The vessels were immediately inspected and PCG confirmed the illegal activity.
About 20,000 to 30,000 liters of diesel was transferred by the M/V MIROLA 1 to the three boats when the PCG discovered it.
As the investigation continued, it was also confirmed that they had no documents.
The PCG also found out that three boats were also involved in fuel theft, not only in the waters of Manila, but also in Bataan and Batangas.
The involved vessels and their crews were immediately brought to the Coast Guard Sub-Station Navotas for the filing of competent charges.
