The Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) has issued Piracy Analysis and Warning Report for the past week, 31 October – 6 November. The PAWW Report is a review of recent piracy and maritime crime incidents around the Horn of Africa and the Gulf of Guinea.
Horn of Africa
Pirate and maritime crime activity in African waters is at low levels. There were no incidents reported during thisone-week period.
Gulf of Guinea
Pirate and maritime crime activity in West African waters is at low levels. There were no incidents reported during this one-week period.
SURFACE CURRENTS:
The Northern Arabian Sea and GOA currents are variable with most areas havingaverage speed of 1 knot. The Mozambique Channel currents are variable having average speed of 2 knots. Currentsspeeds along the Somali basin are northeasterly averaging between 1-2 knots.H.
SYNOPTIC DISCUSSION:
The onset of the Northeastern Monsoonal pattern influences the majority of the western Indian Ocean, with interacting high and low pressure systems in the region, producing mostly cloudy to overcast skies with embedded rain showers and thunderstorms.
