The Chinese freighter ‘Rui Xing Lun’ capsized on on December 8 in the Bohai Sea. When the incident took place, the freighter had ten crew on board, of whom one died and one is missing. According to reports, the ship experienced a snow storm near Shandong province.
On Saturday, through a snow storm and into extreme low temperature water, ‘Rui Xing Lun’ was sinking 20 nautical miles northeast of Weifang in Shandong province.
‘Rui Xing Lun’ issued a distress call and a Beihai Rescue Bureau patrol vessel and a rescue helicopter rushed to the scene for rescue. Furthermore, ships that were in the area of the accident actively participated in the search and rescue operation, too.
According to the latest local news, the ‘Rui Xing Lun’ has completely sunk and the patrol vessel and helicopter have rescued five people, but one of them has no vital signs. Nearby ships rescued four people, and, unfortunately, one person is still missing.

Based on the local reports, the hull of the vessel split in two sections and the stern sank shortly after.
