The US Coast Guard is investigating the death of a man, after a workboat allided with a seawall Friday on the Cooper River, south of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center.
USCG Sector Charleston command center watchstanders received a report at 11:31 p.m. stating the ‘Miss June’, a 24-foot Moran Environmental workboat, allided with a seawall with two people aboard.
North Charleston Police, North Charleston Fire Department, South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and USCG Sector Charleston Investigating Officers all responded to the scene.
The operator, Edward Barnett, was reported deceased by NCP officials. The other crewmember, who suffered a leg injury, was transported to the Medical University of South Carolina.
The cause of the incident is under investigation.
