The US Coast Guard responded to an oil discharge near Garden Island Bay, Louisiana, on Friday, December 14. Namely, around 420 gallons of crude oil were discharged from a damaged saltwater disposal line at the Texas Petroleum Investment Company.
Coast Guard Sector of New Orleans were notified, just before 4 p.m. on Friday, from the National Response Center that approximately 420 gallons of crude oil had been discharged from a damaged saltwater disposal line at the Texas Petroleum Investment Company.
The source of the discharge has been secured. The oil spill response organisation is Environmental Safety and Health. Two vessels from ES&H deployed approximately 2,000 feet of containment boom to capture the oil.

Sector New Orleans watchstanders issued a safety marine information broadcast over VHF radio channel 16 to alert mariners operating near or around the affected area.
Due to the level of vessel traffic in the area during hunting and fishing season, the Coast Guard advises fishing vessels to be aware of response crews that may be working in the area and listen to VHF radio channel 16 for marine safety information and alerts.
