German shipbuilder MV Werften announced immediate suspension of its shipbuilding projects in Wismar, Rostock and Stralsund, amid COVID-19 pandemic.
On the basis of the works agreement on the pandemic case between the works councils and the management of the shipyard , the workforce will initially reduce time accounts or take vacation and go into short-time work from April 1, 2020. This initially applies until 19 April 2020,

The decision came as there are massive restrictions in the operational process due to the corona epidemic.
Because despite comprehensive preventive measures in place in the past few weeks, not all requirements can be met, such as the required safety margins in production between colleagues. Bottlenecks in external supply chains and closed borders also prevent continuous production.
