Danish bunker company, Monjasa, announced that it completed its first ship-to-ship supply for the new very low sulphur fuel oil (VLSFO) in light of the approaching IMO 2020 regulations. The operation was completed in Southampton, UK and included supply of VLSFO and MGO.
Specifically, Vinga Safir, operated by Monjasa, conducted ship-to-shore operations with the roro cargo vessel Hurst Point, in Southampton, on August 29 and supplied VLSFO and MGO 0.1%.
In light of this event, Stenberg Mølholt, Group COO commented
Cleaning up our first tanker and supplying the new 0.5% product is a milestone for Monjasa.
The company aims to provide its VLFSO bunkering services worldwide, while it already holds five bunker tankers specifically for bunkering operations.

Also, Monjasa stated that will take full ownership of sourcing, shipping and supply of VLSFO in West Africa, Northwest Europe, Panama Canal and the Arabian gulf.
In the meantime, BP has already announced availability of VLSFO, while it has also developed marine gas oil and high sulphur fuel oil for ships that have scrubbers.
