Malaysia informed that it continues to develop plans to antagonize Singapore’s bunkering dominance, as Johor Port Authority has presented $477 million development of an oil storage and bunkering site in the country’s south.
Namely, the Bunker Island Development will have the ability to to store around 1.2m cu m of several oil and gas products, and it will be used for storage, blending and redistribution.

The Bunker Island Development project will consist of two jetties and seven berths, which will have a storage capacity of approximately 1.2 million cbm. It is expected to be completed in four years.
In addition, according to Reuters, the project would be built with the new IMO 2020 rules under consideration, in order to be able to support the use of cleaner maritime fuels.
Moreover, Malaysia’s Transport Minister, Anthony Loke Siew Fook, informed that the first phase of the project could be completed in two years time.
