Liquid Wind has partnered with Övik Energi for a major new project aimed at creating one of Europe’s largest eFuel production facilities.
Located in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden, the site will produce around 100,000 tons of eMethanol annually, double the output of a previous planned facility. The project, set to begin in the spring of 2025, will support the shift away from fossil fuels by supplying low-carbon alternatives for sectors like shipping, aviation, and chemicals.
This collaboration builds on years of partnership between Liquid Wind and Övik Energi, which operates a combined heat and power (CHP) plant at the High Coast Innovation Park. The plant’s ability to run entirely on renewable energy strengthens their shared goal of promoting sustainability.
Claes Fredriksson, CEO of Liquid Wind, emphasized the strong demand for sustainable fuels and the importance of the new facility in advancing the green transition. Roland Nordin, CEO of Övik Energi, highlighted the synergy between the companies, noting their shared commitment to sustainability and industrial collaboration at the Innovation Park.
To remind, Liquid Wind recently announced that it has received an environmental permit for its large-scale eFuel production facility in Umeå, Sweden.
