SAFETY4SEA is pleased to announce that LAROS has received the 2020 SMART4SEA Energy Efficiency Award, sponsored by ClassNK, at a prestigious award ceremony which successfully concluded on January the 28th at the Yacht Club of Greece in Athens, the evening ahead of the 2020 SMART4SEA Forum.
LAROS received the award for offering an innovative system that enables remote monitoring and analysis of vessels operational parameters. The LAROS system is a versatile tool that provides diagnosis, prognosis, and early warning by collecting and transmitting data to the operations’ center in real time. Other short-listed nominees for this category were: ABS, Bureau Veritas, Kongsberg Digital & Fujitsu and METIS.
Presenting the award, Seiichi Gyobu, Reginal Manager of Eastern Mediterranean Sea and Northern Black Sea, ClassNK, said “The energy efficiency is always a key issue in the industry. Nowadays, it is attracting more and more attention because of the growing capability supported by the development of Digital technology. The LAROS system is explained as a versatile tool which enables automatic reporting, regulatory compliance, hull & machinery monitoring, voyage parameter monitoring and optimization and more.”
Accepting the award on behalf of LAROS, Ms. Dimirta Marina Giordamli, Corporate Affairs, stated ‘’Our company’s history dates back in 1991 and since then it has achieved many astonishing developments to share. In 2011, we had the vision for excellence; so we created the LAROS System which was widely accepted from its very first beginning, confirming that this was a correct strategic decision and success would come in the years ahead. Now the LAROS System, which is continually being upgraded, is in its fourth generation and serves as an advanced tool for the customers that significantly reduces costs and boosts efficiency.’’
LAROS by Prisma Electronics, is a comprehensive Wireless Remote Monitoring & Performance Analysis system. Namely, LAROS enhanced analytics allow complete vessel situational awareness and profound analysis of all critical ship’s operations in real time. The system can be connected to any point of interest regardless vessels’ age, size or type. LAROS core technology covers all future regulations concerning SOx, NOx and many other particles that will be needed to be monitored and properly reported. The system has a proven record of 3-6% less fuel consumption and guarantees 6 months return on investment period. In fact, significant findings generated by more than 250 LAROS system installations indicate that reliable data contribute in reduction of fuel consumption, emissions as well as operating costs. This is particularly helpful as most shipping companies present a loss of 3-6% in fuel consumption due to insufficient or unreliable fleet data.
LAROS attracted the most votes by the end of the voting period which held online during a two-month period. SMART4SEA Awards are held annually within the scope of awarding industry’s outstanding practices for e-navigation, connectivity, energy efficiency, cyber security, training and smart shipping technology.
