Including latest updates from IMO Conventions, Codes and Circulars
Korean Register (KR) – an IACS member classification society – announced that it has released a writable version of its KR-CON software and associated App to allow greater flexibility and enhance user experience.
KR-CON is a software package comprising an international database program containing the full up-to-date texts of all IMO Conventions, Codes, Resolutions and Circulars. It enables users to identify regulations relevant to a specific task and helps ensure all IMO requirements are applied correctly. KR-CON is currently being used by surveyors, port state control inspectors, shipping companies, shipyards and design houses in more than 30 countries across the world.
The 13th version of KR-CON has been further strengthened to allow users to add their own comments and information directly into their personal version of the database – this is the new “memo” function. Additionally, a new “bookmark” facility allows users to tag and easily retrieve selected documents.
On its launch, Dr. B S Park, Chairman & CEO of KR commented:
“We’ve transformed the 13th version of KR-CON into a “writable convention database“. Listening to the requirements of our customers, we’ve identified the weaknesses inherent in electronic document databases and introduced two new writable facilities to overcome this. I am confident that this latest version of KR-CON will help our users gain a more comprehensive understanding of IMO conventions and their specific application“.
The new software also includes a search facility for users to identify IMDG Code dangerous goods and track those which have been applied to IMO instruments.
Recent amendments adopted at the 93 rd MSC (Maritime Safety Committee) and the 67th MEPC (Maritime Environment Protection Committee) are included in this release of KR-CON and the database is updated via the KR-CON website.
