Abu Dhabi Terminals (ADT) selected Konecranes to supply an Automated Stacking Crane (ASC) system for the second phase of the building of its container terminal in Khalifa Port, namely the Khalifa Port Container Terminal (KPCT). The order includes 54 Automated Rail Mounted Gantry (ARMG) cranes.
Konecranes has earlier delivered 52 ARMG cranes, for the first phase of KPCT container terminal, which started operation on 2012.
The second phase involves an expansion of the terminal area, infrastructure, container handling capacity, and the delivery of 54 Konecranes ARMGs.
The 54 ARMG cranes will be able to lift 40 tons and stack 1-over-6 containers high. 30 of the cranes will be nine-wide, and 24 will be eleven-wide. They will have automation controls and Konecranes’ Active Load Control (ALC) system. ALC incorporates sway control and horizontal fine positioning.
Abdullah Al Hameli, A/CEO, Abu Dhabi Terminals, commented about the order:
Konecranes performed very well throughout the first phase of the construction of our container terminal.
