The logistics company Greencarrier Freight Service and shipping company CMA-CGM Scandinavia have initiated a long-term collaboration project to cut their joint CO2 emissions by 30% by 2020.
This will be achieved by developing new and sustainable logistics solutions that will also be made available on the market. One example is a joint solution involving sea transport to Gothenburg and further transport to Torsvik, where trucks have now been replaced by rail transport. This change has resulted in a 70% reduction in CO2 emissions.
On an annual basis, at least two new sustainable logistics solutions will be developed in order to replace traditional solutions and reduce their environmental impact. Additionally, mutual development involving environmental issues will take place via joint skill sharing.
“Greencarrier and CMA-CGM Scandinavia have been working with sustainability questions for many years, and it was thus simple and natural for us to begin collaborating. We also have well-defined long-term climate objectives and this makes it easier to develop good solutions that can be offered directly to the market. Working with skill sharing will also enable both organisations to develop still further,” said Peter Nevhagen, CEO of Greencarrier Freight Services International.
CMA-CGM Scandinavia will utilise parts of the Greencarriers Green Evaluation (GGE) and Greenoffice concepts. Greencarriers Green Evaluation is a tool used to classify partners in sustainability and increase collaboration with the most sustainable partners.
