Statista portal has created an infographic based on data from Alphaliner, that depicts the largest containership fleets worldwide in regard to the number of ships.
According to data, the biggest container shipping company by number of chartered and owned ships in its fleet is Denmark-based APM-Maersk, with currently 636 ships in service.
The second largest fleet is run by the Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) which was founded in Naples in Italy, but is now headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. The top-five is completed by France-based CMA-CGM, Chinese COSCO and German-Chilean Hapag-Lloyd, respectively.
