According to the short-term data of the State Enterprise “Ukrainian Seaport Authority” in January-December 2015 the volume of cargo handling in seaports of Ukraine amounted to 144 million 826 thousand tons.
Export cargo handling reached 104 million 21 thousand tonnes (decrease by 0.6% compared to the similar period in 2014), import – 18 million 97 thousand tonnes (increase by 13.2%). Transit cargo handling amounted to 15 million 873 thousand tonnes (decrease by 23.4% as compared to 2014), cabotage – 6 million 835 thousand tonnes (increase by 96.8%).
State port operators owned by the Ministry of Infrastructure Management handled 48 million 980 thousand tonnes (33.8% of the total volume);
Other port operators (mostly privately owned) handled 95 million 846 thousand tonnes of cargo (66.2% of the total volume). Port operators (mostly privately owned) through the berths of USPA handled 50 million 919 thousand tonnes of cargo (35.2% of the total volume).
Containers handling fell by 28% and totaled 482,162 TEU.
The seaports of mainland part of Ukraine increased cargo traffic by 1.4% compared to the previous year. Among the leaders in the growth of cargo handling became the ports of Izmail (+56% compared to the previous year), Berdyansk (+39.2%), Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi (+17%), Mykolaiv (+6.8%), Kherson (+6% ), Odessa (+4.1%) and the port of “Yuzhnyi” (+2.4%).
