According to reports, Hapag-Lloyd has acquired Hamburger Lloyd.
As the reports state, Hapag-Lloyd is taking over operations of shipmanager Hamburger Lloyd resulting in the transfer of technical management of 29 container ships and about 35 staff.
The reports come after Hapag-Lloyd signed two contracts with two Chinese shipyards for a total of 24 new container ships, with a value of around $4 billion.
Furthermore, the company on 3 November christened the LNG dual-fuel flagship vessel Hamburg Express at the Container Terminal Burchardkai at the port of Hamburg.
Hapag-Lloyd has raised its full-year earnings, citing stronger-than-expected demand and higher freight rates despite increased expenses from the diversion of vessels around the Cape of Good Hope.
