The vessel traffic stopped on Tuesday, on the Houston Ship Channel, due to dense fog. The Houston Ship Channel is a way to the busiest petrochemical port in the US, but it was reopened later in the day, USCG informs.
About 13 vessels in the channel were advised to return to sea, Houston Pilots Association noted.
The same day, 37 vessels were waiting to enter the waterway, USCG mentioned.
Of the ships waiting, three were crude tankers waiting to arrive at the port, Reuters reported, while six other vessels were awaiting inbound approval, with three more awaiting to depart at the Galveston/Texas City port.
Albeit dense sea fog is normal in winter along the Gulf Coast, ships sailing in the port of Houston on Monday, were halted by ship pilots, because of poor visibility.
